Digipak moodboard

After deciding which digipak to use from audience research, we made a mood board on variant ideas we could use in our album such as glitching, white noise, colour signal bars etc. Here is our mood board:

We decided monochrome clothing would look best if we are changing the colour to grey scale or black and white because they will stand out more and look emphasized like some of the indie artists/album covers on here. We also thought it would look good layered with translucent colour signal bars as the same effect is used on the very indie film 'Submarine' and works very well. The band all in the same colour gives them a sense of unity as many of the indie bands on this board are e.g. the XX, Hurts, Palma Violets etc etc. The glitched effect is also often used in indie album artwork e.g. MIA's new album work and Crystal Castles. The style of photos we want to take are straight facing moody portraits/landscapes to reflect the edgy image of indie artists such as the ones I have listed above as well as many others on the board. This gives an indie artists the sense of mystery and artistic presence which is highly conventional of this genre. The block colours we want to use link well with indie conventions also as well as making the album and advert stand out from others in a sale point of view. This retro theme that is developing on the board reflects the indie music genre nicely as well as conforming to target audience needs.
